Terms of Service

Last updated September 14, 2026

1. Who these terms are between

These Terms of Service govern your use of crosslegalpress.com and anything you buy on it. “Cross Legal Press”, “we” and “us” mean the publisher of the Plain English Legal & Financial Library, written by Nathan Cross. “You” means the person using the site or buying a guide. By using the site or completing a purchase you accept these terms.

2. The guides are education, not advice

Every guide, article, worksheet, checklist and template published by Cross Legal Press is educational content. It is not legal advice, not financial advice, and not tax advice, and it is not a substitute for any of them.

Reading a guide, downloading a template, or emailing support does not create an attorney-client relationship, a fiduciary relationship, or any other professional relationship. We are a publisher, not your lawyer, accountant, or financial adviser.

For advice about your own situation — your will, your company, your lease, your credit file, your divorce — consult a licensed professional in your state before you sign, file, or send anything.

3. United States law, and why your state still matters

The guides describe how law and paperwork generally work in the United States, and they flag the points where state law changes the answer: deposit caps and return deadlines, notice periods, probate thresholds, homestead and community property rules, LLC filing requirements, and statutes of limitation.

They do not state the current law of any particular state, and law changes. You are responsible for confirming your own state's rules, numbers, deadlines, and required language before acting. Nothing in a guide should be treated as current, complete, or applicable to your jurisdiction without that check.

4. What you may do with what you buy

When you buy a guide you receive a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use it. Copyright in the guides, the articles, the templates and this website remains with Cross Legal Press.

  • You may: read it, print it for yourself, keep it on your own devices, fill in the worksheets, and adapt the templates for your own affairs or your own business.
  • You may not: resell, sub-licence, rent, share, publish, or redistribute the file or its contents; post it to a file-sharing site or a course; repackage the templates as your own product or as part of a paid service; or use it to train a machine-learning model.
  • You may not remove copyright notices or present the material as your own work.

5. Payment, delivery and accounts

Every guide and the complete library bundle is a one-time purchase. There is no subscription and nothing renews. Prices are shown in US dollars and payment is processed by Stripe; Cross Legal Press never sees or stores your card details.

Delivery is immediate and digital. After a successful payment, a private download link appears on the confirmation page and is emailed to the address you gave at checkout. The link expires after 24 hours; the file you download is yours to keep. If your link expires before you use it, email support@crosslegalpress.com from the address you bought with and we will send a fresh one — your purchase itself does not expire.

There are no accounts and no passwords. Your receipt email and your download are the record of the purchase, so keep them.

6. Refunds

Refunds are covered by our refund policy, which forms part of these terms.

7. No warranty and limitation of liability

The guides are provided “as is”. We work hard to keep them accurate and plain, but we do not warrant that the content is complete, current, or suited to your circumstances, or that any particular outcome — a granted filing, a removed credit entry, a won deposit dispute, an accepted will — will follow from using them.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Cross Legal Press is not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or special loss arising from your use of the site or the guides, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the guide the claim relates to. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

8. Acceptable use of the website

Do not attempt to access private files, purchase records, or administrative pages you were not given; do not scrape the site at a rate that degrades it for other people; do not interfere with payment processing. We may refuse service or cancel an order where we reasonably suspect fraud or abuse.

9. Changes to the guides, prices and terms

We update the guides and may change prices, add titles, or retire them. A change in price does not affect a purchase you have already completed. If we change these terms we will update the date at the top of this page; the version in force when you bought applies to that purchase.

10. Governing law

These terms, and any dispute arising from them or from a purchase, are governed by the laws of the United States and of the State of Minnesota, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Before starting any formal process, please email support@crosslegalpress.com — most problems are a resend or a refund away from being fixed.

11. Contact

Cross Legal Press — support@crosslegalpress.com. Questions about these terms, a purchase, or a licence request are answered by a human.
